personal views on movies... and some other things

"The Amazing Spiderman" & "The Gangster Squad"

Two of this year's most anticipated films have released some really impressive trailers lately. The first is the reboot of one of my personal favourite super heroes: Spiderman, who this time comes in the form of the lovely Andrew Garfield (The Social Network, Boy A) and seems rather interesting and especially different than the previous trilogy. The Amazing Spiderman is directed by Matt Webb (500 Days of Summer) and it also stars Emma Stone (The Help, Easy A, Crazy Stupid Love), Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Boat that Rocked) Dennis Leary, Campbell Scott, Martin Sheen and Sally Field. Here is an extended preview to the film that Sony  released yesterday:

Next, we have a trailer from one of my most anticipated films of the year, The Gangster Squad, The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, 30:Minutes or Less) and it stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, James Brolin, Michael Pena, Emma Stone, Nick Nolte and Giovanni Ribisi. It follows the story of a mob-king who "runs" the city gaing from the prostitutes, the guns, the drugs and the bets and he does all that protected by the police. Only a small crew of the LAPD stand up to him and try to tear his world apart. The film is based on the "Tales from the Gangster Squad" series of articles by Paul Lieberman. Here is the most impressive trailer:
