personal views on movies... and some other things

When marketing can really change your opinion about a film - The case of "Warm Bodies"

The first time I heard about "Warm Bodies", the new film by Jonathan Levine (the director of last year's 50/50) I was certain that it was going to be a ridiculous story that takes one of the favourite genres of recent years -zombies- and tries to "humanize" it. Here is the official synopsis:
A funny new twist on a classic love story, "Warm Bodies" is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the others zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human -setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events.
It sounds rather ridiculous, right?
And then there came these rather cheesy posters:

I did my research and found out that the film is based on a novel written by Isaac Marion, which is described as a "zombie romance", so, one naturally thinks of Twilight with zombies.
But there is something about Jonathan Levine and his great film "50/50" that just couldn't help but make me wonder why he had chosen this cheesy story as his next project.
And then, the first two trailers for the film come out and they managed to change my mind 100%. This time I knew: this isn't just a romantic story about a zombie and a girl. It is comedy. And it stars Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer and John Malkovich. After the trailers, I honestly can't wait to see what this turns out to be. And I hope it turns out as good as the trailers make it seem. Enjoy!
