Game of Thrones: Behind the scenes

It cannot be argued that Game of Thrones is justifiably considered as one of the best TV Series of all time. Based on the -yet unfinished- book series written by George R.R. Martin, it follows the story of the noble families of the mythical land of Westeros, that fight in order to rise up to power, conquer the Iron Throne and rule upon the seven kingdoms of their world. But if you don't already know all that, what are you doing here?

If you've caught up with the latest season, which is without doubt one of the best in GoT history and the first one that hasn't been based on a book as the 6th and 7th books have not yet been released, you might have understood that every plotline is starting to come to a close, questions are getting satisfying answers and the heroes are getting ready for their final act. Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who have through the years managed to respect the source material (and in some cases make it even better), have recently announced that there are only 13 episodes left for them to tell their story. The episodes will expand into two seasons which means that the show will end in 2018.

With a budget of $10m per episode, it is only logical that a TV show can nowadays compete with big blockbuster Hollywood films. It is also obvious that as the budget gets bigger and the end comes even closer we are soon to witness even more jaw-dropping scenes. After all the 6th season has two episodes that have been rated with the perfect 10 on imdb.com and guessing where the story is going, it can only get even grander and better from here.
So, now, if you enjoy this kind of thing and want to see how dragons, wildfire, direwolves, whitewalkers and breathtaking fights come to life, let me present to you some behind the scenes videos that show how everything was made and brought to our little screens. One can only stand back and admire in awe how far TV (and cinema in general, as GoT cannot be considered normal TV anymore) has come. Enjoy! (and of course, it goes without saying that there are spoilers ahead!)
