personal views on movies... and some other things

Will this be Leonardo DiCaprio's Oscar?

The trailer for the new film directed by Martin Scorsese has just been released and it once again stars Leonardo DiCaprio.
The film is titled "The Wolf of Wall Street" and it is the real story of Jordan Belford, a penny stockbroker who triumphed in Wall Street, founded a brokerage firm that also functioned as a boiler room, lead a lifestyle full of parties and drugs and finally served 22 months in prison for securities fraud and money laundering. The film is based on the homonymous book of his and it also stars Matthew McConaughey, Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Jon Favreau, Rob Reiner, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, PJ Byrne and Kenneth Choi.

Paramount has the film scheduled for a November release which is also known as the "award season", so naturally one tends to wonder if this is going to -finally- be DiCaprio's chance to take home the long-awaited Oscar statue. Let's not forget that Leonardo DiCaprio has been nominated three times for an Academy Award for "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?" (1994), "The Aviator" (2005) and "Blood Diamond" (2007) and has given breathtaking performances in numerous films. He might have never won an Oscar but he has won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for "The Aviator"
The internet has exploded with pleas towards the Academy to recognise his talent creating memes, gifs and images. Perhaps next year DiCaprio will win the golden statue and let's have our fingers crossed that he'll be happier than his fans about it.
