personal views on movies... and some other things

The "Red Dead Redemption 2" trailer is here!

It was autumn of 2010 when I decided to buy a PS3 game with a captivating red cover which featured a menacing-looking man pointing a gun at the potential player. The title was Red Dead Redemption and my choice was a truly inspiring one at the time. I had never played a western videogame before, you see, and I was really interested in seeing what kind of story this particular game would have to offer.
What is more, the company which had produced RDR was non other than Rockstar, which had also given us long-standing series such as the Grand Theft Auto games, or the Max Payne ones. So, Red Dead Redemption surely was something that could be quite engaging and it would hopefully manage to draw my attention (seeing as this was probably my first open world video game). Little did I know that it was not the first in the Red Dead series, as another game, titled Red Dead Revolver had come out 6 years before and it was set in the Wild West, too.
So, who is the man on the cover? His name is John Marston, a cowboy living in 1911 and also a former outlaw who is now given the chance to be granted amnesty and return to his family on the condition that he first collaborates with the sheriff to bring the members of his old gang to justice. Quite a cinematic plot, don't you thing?
The game was an immediate success. It received a 95 out of 100 in metacritic and it won a huge number of Game of the Year awards. And rightly so. Even though it started a bit slow at first, it managed to pull me in and make me feel like I was really living in the Wild West. Horse chases, train jobs, sheriffs, indians, wild animals hidden in the rocky terrain, head hunter missions and duels are only some of the experiences one gets to live when playing the almost 30-hour game. What is more, you get attached to the personality of cool John Marston, despite the fact that at first he seems rather distant and unapproachable. You want to help him get to his family even though that means that he must betray his old companions, and even when you think that you've gotten to the end of the game, there is still more to do in its vast map full of adventures.
So, it is only natural that the public would ask for a sequel of some sort. Whether that may be a prequel story, a continuation of Marston's actions in the West or an indirect sequel that would just be situated in the early 20th century USA, it wouldn't really matter. People have wanted more since 2010. And as a matter of fact, throughout 2016, rumours have been circulating the internet about a Red Dead game being in the works by Rockstar Games. A map was even leaked some months ago.
Finally, we arrived to the 18th of October, when  Rockstar Games, after teasing us for a couple of days with a sudden change of the profile and cover pictures in their facebook accounteventually announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 will come out in autumn 2017. The official anouncement was this:
Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.

An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.
As for the trailer of the game, it has just been released and you can watch it below. Autumn 2017, we cannot wait!
