Aningaaq - The short film that accompanies "Gravity"

If you haven't seen Gravity yet then this post is a bit spoiler-y for you. But, really, why haven't you seen Gravity? Alfonso Quarón's new film is a breathtaking experience that you're sure to remember for a long time. It might not be too strong when it comes to its story but it is an amazing technological achievement that keeps you on the edge of your seat for all its duration. From the jaw-dropping 18-minute single shot with which the film begins to the awe-inspiring effects that show us the atmosphere -or lack- of space in a realistic way, this is a must-see film.
But, for those of you who have already seen it, you might remember a particular scene of the film when Sandra Bullock's character, who for the largest part of the film is detached from any sort of communication, manages to talk with a man via her radio. She soon discovers that this man in on Earth and  he speaks a language that she can't understand. However, they do have a conversation that includes dogs, children, life and death.
While we watch Gravity we only see the one side of this discussion. Jonás Quarón (Alfonso's son) has directed a short film that documents the other side. Aningaaq is an Inuit fisherman who, while camping on a frozen fjord, makes contact with an astronaut stranded in space. The film has been released online and it will be included in the Gravity DVD and Blu-Ray. You can watch it here.
